Been there, loved it — our own hearts on the map.

Barbillon started in Madrid and crossed the coast for its first beach address - a 4,000 square metre plot at Guadalmina Baja with the sea straight in front of it.

Three zones: sunbeds on the sand, a low pool ringed with daybeds, and a bar-restaurant running from midday to midnight with sharing plates built on local, seasonal produce.

It fills fast in July and August. Come earlier in the season and you get the version everyone is talking about.
