Benahavís River Walk
A cool walk down the Río Guadalmina
One of the Costa del Sol's classic walks, and for good reason. The Río Guadalmina cuts a shady canyon through the rock just below Benahavís, and the path simply follows the water — stepping stones, gravel stretches, boardwalks and shallow pools. Twenty minutes from the coast you are wading in cool, clear water.
We like it best in the morning before the crowds, with shoes that can get wet and lunch in Benahavís afterwards.
- What
- An easy riverside walk starting near the Pasada de las Cañas below Benahavís, following the Acequia del Guadalmina. A mix of gravel paths, boardwalks and stepping stones, with pools deep enough for a proper dip on hot days. Wear shoes that can get wet and bring water.
- Where
- Start below Benahavís village, about 20 minutes' drive from San Pedro de Alcántara. Parking near the Pasada de las Cañas and the Ermita Virgen del Rosario.
- How long
- One to two hours for the walk itself — longer with a swim and lunch in Benahavís afterwards.
- Cost
- Free.
