Divot is the restaurant the Banús Executive golf clubhouse was waiting for. Inside it is all warm wood, exposed brick and low light, with a wine room and a dry-aging cabinet glowing along one wall; outside, a terrace that looks straight down the fairway with the mountains behind it.

The kitchen works over charcoal - matured beef and premium cuts, whole fish and Mediterranean sides - and the wine list is long enough to keep a bottle interesting for a while. Martins, a chef of Latvian origin, and Ben, the maître, opened it in 2020 and have run it since as a meeting point for golfers coming off a round, people from the Nueva Andalucía villas and anyone who wants a proper meal without driving into town.

Sit at the back if you can. The view over the course as the light goes is the reason to come.
