El Ancla is the sort of place Marbella used to be full of: a proper seafood restaurant on the sand at Linda Vista Playa, with an open fire, a saltwater swimming pool, and hammocks strung between the tables.

Order the espetos, a plate of fried fish, and a rice dish if there are four of you. Nothing here is trying to be clever. It is all very good.

Locals fill the terrace at weekends, which tells you everything you need to know.
