Marbella Club began in 1954 as Prince Alfonso von Hohenlohe''s private house, and the whole coast grew up around it. It is still a low, unhurried resort of villas and gardens rather than a tower - which is why people keep coming back.

You do not have to stay to eat here. The Beach Club does raw-bar ceviche under palapa roofs on the pier, and MC Beach down the sand does espeto sardines and black paella the way Malaga intended.

Come for lunch, book a cabana, leave late. It costs what it costs, and it is worth doing once.
